Go Towson Tigers! O'Malley Makes Friendly Wager With N.D. Gov. On FCS Title Game
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP/WJZ) -- The governors of Maryland and North Dakota have a friendly wager on the outcome of the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision title game.
North Dakota State meets Maryland's Towson University on Saturday in Frisco, Texas.
If Maryland wins, North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple will send a case of North Dakota-made Dreamfields low-carb pasta to Maryland.
"What the Bison have accomplished this year is very impressive, and returning for their third national title game makes it even more special," Dalrymple said. "In friendly wagers with the governors of Minnesota, Texas and South Dakota the Bison have always come out on top, and I'm looking forward to another victory and Gov. O'Malley's fresh crab cakes."
If North Dakota wins, Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley will send Dalrymple a package of crab cakes. The crab cakes O'Malley is wagering come from Baltimore-based Faidley's.
"There's nothing more delicious than Maryland crab cakes, and the award-winning ones from Faidley's are among the best. I would really hate to part with them, but I know I won't have to, because the Towson Tigers are going to win on Saturday," Gov. O'Malley said. "Regardless of the outcome, this game is an excellent opportunity to highlight our great state and the universities in it. On behalf of our state, we wish the Towson Tigers, coach Rob Ambrose -- and everyone associated with the NDSU Bison -- the best of luck on Saturday. And Governor Dalrymple, we look forward to enjoying pasta for dinner soon."
The FCS Championship Game is scheduled to take place at 2 p.m. Saturday in Frisco, Texas.
