Glenn Younes: Tiger Declawed
The 94the PGA Championship was held on a very unique venue, The Ocean Course - Kiawah Island...and the outcome? Well, that's a whole different story.
"Unique" could be the year Tiger Woods is having. No majors but 3 wins at big events (Arnold Palmer's, Jacks & his own in DC) yet after two rounds at the fourth and final major of the year Tiger was in the lead and the final group on moving day Saturday. Was this to be the Tiger of old flexing his muscles or the current Tiger who falls apart on the weekend in majors? The latter would hold true with his 2 over 74 in his 3rd round (postponed into Sunday because of rain which helped him regroup actually) and even par in the final round.
The display from Woods was not an embarrassment but a slap of reality at the work he still has left to get to where we remember him. Woods lost it mentally to start round 3 and he admitted as much saying he didn't have the intensity to start Saturday that he normally does. That's the next step for the greatest golfer of all-time, at least to me he is.
Is he back? I'll never know what that means but can he still beat Jack? Yes, but he needs to get his mind right.
