Glenn Younes: Terps Top Duke
Following the Terps 83-81 win in College Park over Duke there are many story lines one could get into:
- Last time this match up in ACC.
- The rivalry or lack thereof in some's mind.
- The business of NCAA $$ getting in way of history.
- How Duke gets every player, advantage & calls and still can't win as much as they should.
Or the angle I'm going to touch on... does this Terps team get motivation from this and get on a little run here?
Can they cut out the turnovers and propel with this win, or do these group of kids think they pulled off their big win of the year and fall back to average?
I know a Gary Williams team always seemed to over achieve with youth and less talent. Well, Turg and this team has talent and youth and now a signature win, can he now coach his kids up to the potential they have? Can these kids use this spring board to the tourney we all wanted and predicted at seasons start? I sure hope so!
Talent and inside game a plenty with Len, Cleare, Mitchell & Padgett plus nice youth wing players. The one spot that's been a glaring weakness has been at point and no matter what the victory over Duke does for confidence it's not going to fix the 1 guard. Seth Allen and Nick Faust are going to have to be the difference. Not a radical statement just the plain fact of the matter, if the Terps are going to make a run they are going to need better point play, less turnovers and to feed the post.
Good luck coach, well be listening...
