Glenn Younes: Baltimore Fans, Why So Needy?
Something has been lurking in my brain for the last bit of time and I figured I'd ask the question. Why are Baltimore fans so needy and sensitive? "The national media should do this, so and so picked against the Ravens, you can't go against the home team." Blah blah blah blah blah. Are you kidding me? Do you really need every media member to check their brain at the door? What are you people talking about?
I had a very nice lady ask me at the Greene Turtle "how could Scott Garceau pick the Steelers to win in week 9?" I told her I made the same pick and that both Scott and I wanted the Ravens to win but the game was in Pittsburgh. I attempted to explain the difference between thoughts and feelings. She gave me a look similar to the one my grandmother gave me when I told her AOL was not the Internet, just a way to get to it. She had no clue.
I just don't understand why I get calls asking why NFL network doesn't give the Ravens love or telling me Chris Collinsworth is a hater. Let me ask you a question... Who cares? Why are you so damn sensitive that when Baltimore isn't being praised every minute you take it as being bashed? Let me tell you, there is a big bad world out there. No one cares enough about Baltimore to hate it or even disrespect it. Take it easy, everything if fine and there is no master plan to bring down Baltimore. The ones who will get angered about this Blog is the reason I wrote it. The vast majority of you, I hope, are with me. I hope you too live in reality and not crazy candy land where conspiracy theories grow like hippie mushrooms, that everyone's eating up. Be confident in your own love of your city and sports teams. Don't rely on the subjective opinion of others for the feeling of worth. Baltimore is your home and you love the teams. Let that be enough.
