Giving Tuesday: Where To Donate In Maryland
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The holiday season is all about giving, but after mega shopping days like Black Friday and Cyber Monday it's easy to forget that it's more than about giving gifts and instead about giving back.
That's how a national campaign called Giving Tuesday began and here's how and where you can donate in Maryland.
Last year, Marylanders gave more than they ever have, raising more than $5.7 million in one day, according to MarylandNonprofits.org.
The Maryland Office of the Secretary of State has a database of Maryland charities, where you can choose an organization you'd like give back to. The Better Business Bureau says to be wary of copycat charities. You can check a charities BBB reports at Give.org.
Once you've donated any amount, report your donation to Maryland Gives More, a campaign tracking how much Marylanders are donating on Giving Tuesday.
Let people know who you're supporting by using the hashtags #MarylandGivesMore and #GivingTuesday on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
