Getaway Driver Sentenced In Killing Of Md. Student
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in the killing of a University of Maryland student.
Stephan Weaver was sentenced Friday in Prince George's County Circuit Court after pleading guilty to charges including attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery. Prosecutors say Weaver acted as the getaway driver in January 2011 when the student, Justin Vance Desha-Overcash, was killed in his off-campus apartment during a botched robbery.
The shooter, Deandre Williams, is scheduled to be sentenced next month on a murder conviction. Prosecutors expect a sentence of
between 30 and 60 years in prison.
