Get Expert Advice On Décor At The Maryland Home & Garden Show

TIMONIUM, Md. (WJZ)—Patios, kitchens, flowers and much more. It's all part of the 33rd annual Maryland Home & Garden Show.

Ron Matz reports thousands of people will be heading to the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium this weekend.

From gorgeous patios to fireplaces and granite countertops, this is the Maryland Home & Garden Show.

"Spring is right around the corner, and there are some things you can start doing to your flower gardens and to your lawn. You can come to the show and get some expert advice on how to get started," said Jeff Plummer, Maryland Home & Garden Show.

You'll see more than 300 home improvement exhibitors.

"You'll see 17 different landscape gardens. This year they're based on different films. You'll see Jurassic Park, Lord of the Rings, Caddyshack, really some neat themes," Plummer said.

The show also includes kitchens to die for.

"People are spending so much money with granite. Their kitchens are becoming high end parts of the house. When somebody comes to a party, they always hang out in the kitchen," Plummer said.

Brian Santos is the "Wall Wizard." He'll be on stage all weekend with painting tips.

"I do about 20 of these home and garden shows a year. This is my research. People ask the greatest questions. People have real life situations, and I don't want to be removed from that," Santos said. "I want to come in and talk to people and learn their problems. That way in my books I can address those concerns that they have, so these are real problem solving events."

One of the most popular parts of the weekend is this the Maryland Orchid Society's show and sale.

"You can find beautiful orchids to decorate the inside of your house. There's something for everyone here at the show," Plummer said. "We've finally found a home here at the Timonium Fairgrounds. It's easy to get to, and there's plenty of free parking. It's great here because you're talking to the owners of the companies. I think that makes people feel a lot more comfortable."

In two weekends the Maryland Home & Garden Show is expected to draw more than 65,000 people. For ticket information, click here.
