Gas Prices Lowest They've Been In 7 Months
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Gas prices are the lowest they've been in months. So how low will they go, and how long will the drop last?
Monique Griego has the answers.
Pumped up recently? You might get a pleasant surprise.
The price for gas is the lowest it's been in seven months. The national average dropped 17 cents within the past month to $3.45 a gallon.
For drivers in Baltimore, pumping up was even less painful— with drivers taking advantage of prices around $3.30 a gallon.
"I fill up my tank all the way now," said one driver.
AAA says the drop shouldn't be a shock.
"We typically see gas prices come down somewhat during this time of year," said Ragina Averella, AAA Mid-Atlantic.
And filling up could cost you even less in the coming months. Analysts are predicting prices could flirt with $3 a gallon.
"That being said, they don't want people to get too comfortable because they're also saying those prices will rebound by the start of 2012," Averella said.
"It doesn't surprise me," said Dalton Diamond, driver. "Gas prices always go up and down. So, they have to even it out somehow."
Prices at the pump may be going down but they are still not necessarily low. The national average is still $.76 higher than a year ago. Still, most drivers welcome any help.
"I'm happy they're down for right now," one driver said.
U.S. drivers are on track to spend $490 billion on gas this year. That's the most in history.
