Game 3 Preview With Roch Kubatko
Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn and Jason La Canfora to preview Game 3 of the ALCS between the Orioles and Kansas City Royals. Royals outfielder Jarrod Dyson made headlines this week when saying he believes that the Orioles have given up. Scott asked Roch how the players have been responding to the utility outfielder. "Honestly I don't think its become bulletin board material. I did talk to one player who once the recorder was turned off kind of said how adgitated he was by it. Hes the one who pointed out the little league world series kind of reaction. They hit a home run and guys come bouncing out of the dugoutand they jump up and down, guys have noticed that. But most of the players when you brought up the quote kind of chuckled and a few of them didn't even know about it."
Steve Pearce has been slumping in the ALCS, Jeremy asked Roch if Pearce is melting under the pressure of the big stage. "He's such a good hitter its gonna come, you know he had a good division series... So he's definitely an emotional guy and I know he's frustrated right now."
28 year old rookie catcher Caleb Joseph has been a surprise this year joining the club after all star catcher Matt Wieters went down to injury. Roch talks about the job Joseph has done this year. "Its really been one of the more interesting stories this year. Who would've thought that Caleb Joseph was gonna end up in the majors this year let alone being one of the catchers... He had that streak of 0-33, but he still gives you enough behind the plate like Buck says defense first."
