ALCS Game 3 Orioles Will Take On Royals Tuesday
Kansas City, Mo. (WJZ) -- The Baltimore Orioles had one more night to prepare to face the Kansas City Royals again after being defeated in the first two games of the American League Championship Series.
All the excitement and anticipation for playoff baseball has hit cold, wet reality in Kansas City, Mo.
Due to rainy weather, game 3 was postponed to Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. eastern.
WJZ's Sports Director Mark Viviano had the latest from the Orioles dugout in Kauffman Stadium Tuesday.
Everyone woke up to the wet reality, then arriving here at the ballpark this afternoon conditions have not improved. When the series started in Baltimore four days ago the forecast then was foreboding, but they were able to play at Camden Yards.
That seemed less likely in Kansas City as a huge southern storm blew through the region, closing some schools down and Orioles Manager Buck Showalter was well aware of the forecast well ahead of time and takes the inconvenience in stride.
"Nothing we can do about it," Showalter said. "We had the same forecast in Baltimore there for a while. Our ground crew like there's did a great job."
Showalter said the team's concerns are about the fans.
All day team staff surveyed the field and poked their heads out to see the progress.
Games 4 & 5 will now be moved to Wednesday and Thursday at 4 p.m.
