Gaithersburg Man Suspected In Aruba Death Talks On NBC Show
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A Maryland man held for four months in the presumed death of his traveling companion in Aruba says he struggled to get back to shore while the pair were snorkeling and that his companion never made it.
That's according to excerpts of an interview with Gary Giordano expected to air Friday night on NBC's "Dateline" program.
Giordano was released from prison in Aruba on Tuesday. According to excerpts from the "Dateline" interview, he says he and his companion Robyn Gardner were snorkeling when he realized they were getting in deeper water. He says he grabbed Gardner's leg to signal returning to shore. But he says getting back was a struggle because of winds and current. It was the last time he saw her.
