'Beer Pong Rapist' Found Guilty Of Sexually Assaulting 4 Men
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP/WJZ) -- A Montgomery County jury has found a Gaithersburg man dubbed the 'beer pong rapist' guilty of sexually assaulting four men.
Joey Poindexter was found guilty of a total of eight sexual offense counts Thursday. The 40-year-old Poindexter was found guilty in a separate trial last week of sexually assaulting another man. Officials say Poindexter befriended several of his victims while at beer pong events. He then filmed and photographed the sexual assaults, police said.
Jurors watched the videos as a part of evidence during the trial, and WUSA9 reports it made some of them cry.
"I think what really got to me was when the victim started crying. It did move me to tears honestly," Juror Verna Hill told WUSA9.
According to WUSA9, prosecutors said the victims were clearly incapacitated and could not consent.
Poindexter's sentencing in both cases was set for March 20. Poindexter fired his lawyers and represented himself.
He's facing 70 years in prison for a conviction last week in the 2013 assault of a man he met at Looney's Pub in College Park. He could get another 130 years for the eight counts Thursday.
State's Attorney for Montgomery County John J. McCarthy said if anyone remembers interacting with Poindexter or drinking with him, they may want to call Montgomery County Police - Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070 to see if they are on any of the tapes. Poindexter frequented events in Baltimore and DC areas as well as traveling to Atlantic City, Las Vegas and Virginia Beach for events.
