Funny Man Terrell Suggs Serious About Super Bowl Run
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- The Baltimore Ravens are busy getting ready for the playoffs and one of the keys to their success this season certainly has been Terrell Suggs.
Sports Director Mark Viviano takes a look behind-the-scenes at what may be the NFL's best defensive player.
Terrell Suggs has already produced a movie and he tells WJZ his next endeavor may be a singing career. But for now, his focus is football.
He's one of the most feared past-rushers in the league, leading the Ravens with a career high 14 sacks this season. But as much as Terrell Suggs is fierce, he is also funny. His non-stop entertainment offers the Ravens comic relief.
"I just be me, man," Suggs said. "I just try to be myself, but I guess some guys think I'm funny."
"The locker room is probably his best side, the way he interacts with guys, his personality," linebacker Jarret Johnson said. "You can't say enough about the guy."
"Sizzle's a great guy, he's a great teammate," safety Bernard Pollard said. "Obviously, you hear him come in. We're in here and we hear him all the way in the locker room. And he's a loud-mouth. But I think he's one of those guys, he'll back up what he's saying."
He does back it up. He's been voted to the Pro Bowl five times in his nine-year career.
Yes, Suggs will always have his silly side but he's serious about a Super Bowl run and taking center stage in the post-season.
"It's kind of the price," Suggs said. "You know, in the playoffs, the only football left, still on, still playing, everybody's watching. So it's kind of flattering to have at this stage but when we've worked so hard all year, we achieved it. So I'm just going to enjoy it. I'm going to enjoy the ride."
And this year's playoff ride for Suggs and the Ravens begins one week from Sunday. The Ravens will host either Houston, Denver or Pittsburgh on Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. Pittsburgh takes on the Denver Broncos on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. You can watch both games live on WJZ.
