Funeral Set For Brother Of Ravens Safety

ST. ROSE, La. (AP) -- Funeral services have been set for Brian Reed, the 29-year-old brother of Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed.

Brian Reed's body was recovered late Tuesday from the Mississipppi River. He had jumped into the river about 30 miles northwest of New Orleans after an encounter with a sheriff's deputy on Jan. 7.

Ed Reed said his brother was suffering from mental issues when he ran away from the deputy, who had tried to question him about driving another brother's car without authorization.

A Thursday autopsy confirmed Reed's identity and found the preliminary cause of death to be accidental drowning.

Services are set for Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mount. Zion Baptist Church in St. Rose, according to Richardson Funeral Home in River Ridge.
