From Spunky To Scary, Baltimore Shows Its Halloween Spirit
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—Parties, costumes, decorations, candy and more. They're all part of Baltimore's Halloween celebration.
Ron Matz has more on what people will be wearing for one of the most popular days of the year.
The faces of Halloween--from spooky to sexy--Artistic Costumes in Towson has them all.
"I would say the average costume goes from $29 to $49.95. It's kind of like McDonald's. 'Do you want fries with that?' 'Would you like a wig with that?' 'Would you like makeup with that?' It can add up. It all depends how much you want to put into it," said Harriet Berlin, Artistic Costumes.
"I usually dress up and give out candy. Sometimes I go trick-or-treating with my grandchildren. I'm always a witch. It's my alter ego," said Laura Grabill, of Hampden.
TV shows are popular. "Duck Dynasty" is red hot. Folks just want to celebrate.
"Whenever there's a recession or down time, people still spend their money to party on Halloween. It's the one day to get out and spend some money and have fun. Most people want to go all out. It's their night to shine," Berlin said.

This year Haile Jones is going to a party.
"I'm dressing up and going to a Halloween party this year. I spend about $40 to $50. It can be costly," said Jones, of Northeast Baltimore.
From superheroes to wigs and plenty of makeup, it's time to get your Halloween on.
"Candy skulls are very popular this year. They're online. I don't know the origin. I believe it's the celebration of the dead," Berlin said.
From the hip to the hippie, let your hair down.
"Pirates are always big. Sexy costumes are always big. Everyone wants to be sexy at Halloween. A lot of men like to dress up as women. On Halloween, all barriers and boundaries are let down," Berlin said.
Consumers are expected to spend $7.6 billion on Halloween this year. The average celebrant is expected to shell out just about $75.
