Freshman Found Dead At Johns Hopkins Univ.
BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ)-- Baltimore City Police say they are investigating after a freshman was found dead at Johns Hopkins University on Monday.
The freshman, who was identified by the university as Jeremy Huber, was discovered inside his dorm at Wolman Hall. No foul play is suspected at this time, police said.
"We offer our deepest sympathies to Jeremy's parents and younger brother, his relatives, his friends here and at home, and his lacrosse teammates," said the university in a statement on Monday afternoon.
Jeremy was a freshman in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, and was interested in majoring in cognitive sciences, the university said.
Jeremy was also an all-state lacrosse defenseman and played on the varsity team at Johns Hopkins.
"We are stunned and deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Jeremy Huber," Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse coach Dave Pietramala stated. "Jeremy was a wonderful young man who was extremely well-liked by his teammates and the members of our lacrosse family. He was a considerate, bright young man that loved being a part of our lacrosse program. He was an outstanding representative of Johns Hopkins University and words cannot adequately express the loss we are feeling right now. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as we all try to work through this difficult time."
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of death.
The university says they will offer counseling to those who wish to talk during this difficult time. Appointments can be made by calling (410)-516-8278.
Jeremy was set to graduate with the class of 2018.
