Freight Train Traveling To Cumberland Catches Fire In West Virginia
PATTERSON CREEK, W.Va. (AP) -- A CSX train car containing old railroad ties caught fire in a remote area of Mineral County.
A dispatcher says the fire was reported shortly after 4:30 a.m. Thursday in the Patterson Creek area.
Several fire departments responded to the fire. Fire officials say the fire was contained to the rail car. The train was traveling west toward Cumberland, Md., when the fire occurred.
