Free Pancakes Help Children's Charity
DUNDALK, Md. (WJZ) -- If you like pancakes, this is your day to celebrate. You can enjoy a shortstack for free and at the same time help a children's charity.
Ron Matz has more on the pancake pandemonium in Baltimore.
Make way for the pancakes. The kitchen is cooking at the Dundalk IHOP. It's National Pancake Day and the hot items are free.
"You come in and get a free shortstack. We just ask that you make a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It makes IHOP and everybody feel really good," said Diana Mizell, supervisor at the Dundalk IHOP. "We're open from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m."
Patapsco High School students are helping out.
"Pancakes for kids. We feel great to support charity by enjoying some pancakes. It feels good," said Isaiah Coleman, Patapsco High student.
The shortstacks will go a long way. Last year IHOP served up 4 million free pancakes and donated $2.1 million to children's charities.
"Our breakfast group meets every couple of weeks in the morning before school. We talk about the events of the day and just enjoy each other's company," said Mary Jones, part of a breakfast group from General John Stricker Middle School. "We've been doing this for a couple of years now. We came over today for the free pancakes and we're going to donate to their cause."
"I'm enjoying these pancakes and it's for a good cause, so I'm here to make a nice donation," said Vernell Street from White Marsh.
Six Baltimore-area IHOPs are taking part in Tuesday's fundraiser.
