Fort Meade Suicide Prevention Sessions Mandatory
FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) -- Fort Meade is taking a day out for suicide prevention training.
Leaders of the Army installation near Baltimore have scheduled multiple, mandatory training sessions Wednesday for all service members and civilians.
It's part of an Army-wide stand down to address a rising number of suicides among active-duty soldiers. The Army said last month that the number of such deaths in July was more than double the toll in June.
The report has prompted Pentagon leaders to redouble their efforts to solve the problem.
