Fort Detrick Reviewing Staff In Event Of Shutdown
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Officials at Fort Detrick say employees are being notified, if the federal government is shut down, whether they will work or be furloughed.
Col. Judith Robinson, the commander, will decide who works and who is furloughed. All employees must report to work on Monday, and, if the shutdown continues, will be told of their status.
Officials say safety, health, police and fire are considered critical missions. Some research will continue, and infrastructure support, such as utilities, will not be affected.
More than 10,000 people work at Fort Detrick.
