Former Prison Guard Pleads Guilty In Assault
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A former correctional officer at a Hagerstown prison has pleaded guilty to conspiring to obstruct justice and destroy evidence in the beating of an inmate.
Ryan Lohr, 26, entered the plea on Wednesday. He faces a maximum of five years in prison at sentencing June 18.
Prosecutors say Lohr was a correctional officer at the Roxbury Correctional Institution in Hagerstown. Authorities say on March 9, 2008, Lohr opened the door to an inmate's cell to allow other officers to assault him.
According to court documents, Lohr and other officers agreed to cover up the assault.
