Former Prince George's Housing Director Sentenced To 3 Years
GREENBELT, Md. (AP) -- A former Prince George's County housing director has been sentenced to three years and one month in prison for his role in a corruption scheme involving former county executive Jack Johnson.
James Johnson pleaded guilty to asking for and accepting tens of thousands of dollars in bribes from developers.
Johnson, 67, was sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt. He's due to report to prison in June.
The Washington Post reports that Johnson said in court he made a "terrible mistake" that he will always regret.
James Johnson is not related to Jack Johnson, who is serving a sentence of more than seven years for extorting several hundred thousand dollars in bribes from developers and accepting gifts.
Jack Johnson's wife, Leslie Johnson, is serving a one-year sentence.
