Former Oriole Ken Singleton Discusses The Alex Rodriguez Suspension
Ken Singleton, former Baltimore Oriole and current YES Network Broadcaster, joined the Norris and Davis Show on Baltimore's 105-7 THE FAN Tuesday morning to discuss the major suspension of Alex Rodriguez regarding the Biogenesis scandal. Singleton tells that Rodriguez wanted to get back into the Yankees lineup during their most recent road series, which he did. Singleton believes that Rodriguez is going to have some sort of lengthy suspension after his day before the arbitrator. He also wonders if the evidence against Rodriguez is going to become available to the public. While Rodriguez received the most extensive suspension since the implementation of the new drug policy, he never tested positive for any type of performance enhancing drugs.
When prompted about the current contract Rodriguez holds, Singleton brings up that he would not blame the Yankees for wanting to get out of what they to believe a ludicrous contract. Singleton would like to see baseball return to the way it was before all of the PED use.
Singleton transitions to talk about the Riley Cooper incident, saying that people need to be more careful of what you say and when you say it because everyone has a camera on them at all times. He feels sorry for Cooper, but he believes that Cooper needs to face the consequences for what he has done. When asked if anything would be similar to a baseball team, he thinks there are certain similarities, such as football players being able to go after someone and a baseball pitcher being able to intentionally hit a batter.
