Former Head Of Frederick Work Center Out Of Jail
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The former director of a shuttered workplace for developmentally disabled adults in Frederick is out of jail.
The Frederick County Sheriff's Office said Monday that Jeanne Dalaba (DAHL'-uh-buh) was released Sunday after serving six months for contempt of court.
She was jailed for refusing to cooperate with a state-sponsored investigation into the financial failure of the Jeanne Bussard (BUZZ'-erd) Center last year. The center closed in July.
A judge had ordered to her to repay the center $51,000 and produce a computer and business records that disappeared from the nonprofit organization.
Dalaba has asserted that the board of directors awarded her the money as repayment for a personal loan she had made to the center. She has denied taking the computer and business files.
