Former CFO Pleads Guilty To Theft From Nonprofit
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The former chief financial officer of a nonprofit dedicated to helping young people has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $1 million from the organization.
Zachery K. Shaw of Glenn Dale, Md., entered the plea Monday in federal court in Washington. Under sentencing guidelines, Shaw probably will be sentenced 37 months to 46 months in prison. He also agreed to a forfeiture money judgment of more than $1 million.
According to a statement of offense, Shaw, 52, worked for Youth Services America. Prosecutors say from 2002 to 2009, Shaw used fraudulent wire transfers and forged checks to put money into accounts he controlled.
