Former Baltimore Orioles Catcher Chris Hoiles Joins Rob And Terry To Discuss The Early Orioles Season
A career Oriole, Chris Hoiles played for the Orioles from 1989 to 1998. His .994 career fielding percentage ranks ninth all-time among Major League catchers. Chris came on with Rob and Terry to talk about the Orioles and their contention in the always competitive A.L. East.

Chris starts off by saying that starting pitching is very important. The starters inability to go deep into games last season put a lot of pressure on the bullpen and that was a reason why the Orioles under performed. As it is for every team, how deep a starting pitcher can go will dictate how the Orioles do this year. Chris Tillman has been exceptional this year and he could be the key to the Orioles success.
Rob mentions that Matt Wieters has drawn a lot of criticism in his career even though he has put up solid power numbers but low average. What has he done to change his effectiveness this season and attribute to his hot start. Chris says that to be so consistent is very hard but Matt Wieters has always had the potential. Chris thinks that his experience and smart baseball mind has allowed him to make changes to his swing and approach which has lead to Wieters putting up bigger numbers. Another factor might be that he's been getting a few more days off to start the year and keeping him fresh is key.
