Fordham Takes Control In 1st Half To Beat Coppin State 92-55

NEW YORK (AP) -- Mandell Thomas made six 3-pointers and scored 27 points, and Fordham beat Coppin State 92-55 on Sunday for its eighth straight victory.

The last eight-game winning streak for Fordham (8-1) was during the 1990-91 season -- in which they won 14 straight.

Thomas was 10 of 12 from the field, including 6 of 6 3-pointers, and grabbed seven rebounds.

Jon Severe added 16 points and Ryan Rhoomes had 11 for Fordham.

Thomas hit a 3-pointer midway through the first half for his 15th point to give Fordham a 30-10 lead. Fordham led 52-23 at halftime behind 17 points from Thomas and Severe's 13. The Rams made 64 percent of their shots (21 of 33), including 9 of 15 3-pointers, in the half. Coppin State was held to 23 percent on 7-of-31 shooting.

Lucian Brownlee led Coppin State (2-8) with 11 points.
