Food Delivery Driver Shot In Head, Robbed In North Baltimore; Suspects Sought
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A food delivery driver is one of the latest victims of gun violence in Baltimore.
Police said a man was likely set up when he was shot and robbed while delivering food in north Baltimore overnight Monday.
At around 12:25 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 600 block of Chestnut Hill Avenue where they found a 39-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Police gave medical aid until medics responded to the scene and took the man to the hospital.
He is currently listed in critical but stable condition.
Due to the victim's injuries, homicide detectives were notified.
Police learned the victim was delivering food when the unidentified suspects robbed and shot him.
"Ironically, the house that he was to deliver to with a vacant dwelling, so our detectives do believe that this was something that was arranged, set up for him to be ambushed and possibly robbed, Baltimore Police Detective Donny Moses said.
Neighbors are unsettled by the violence.
"We were all in the living room and we just heard a pop. Now, we thought it was fireworks because fireworks have been going off in the area," Stephen Hajchak said.
James Jones, an area resident of 20 years, said the incident left him at a loss for words.
"It's almost like you can't even order any food anymore... because you never know what's going to happen now," he said.
