Andrea Leaves Behind Flooding, Outages In Some Parts Of Md.
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Maryland is still soggy after the year's first tropical storm dumped inches of rain across the state.
Meghan McCorkell takes a look at some of the damage, from Baltimore to Florida.
Low-lying areas in Maryland saw the worst of it, as all that rain just had no place to go.
Some flooding is reported around parts of Maryland.
On Millers Island, Sky Eye Chopper 13 found some backyards and some streets flooded. WJZ also found some localized flooding in Dundalk.
And all this rain, coupled with weak or shallow roots, can bring down trees.
This one in Hampden hit two parked cars.
"Oh, it was loud, like when two cars collide. That's what it sounded like, but didn't know it was the tree," said Cindy Williston.
And that tree landed on top of this man's car.
"Brand new. Not even a week old. Brand new," said Wayne Eppers.
Further south, the flooding and damage is a bit more severe.
Andrea kicked up surf, and brought wind and rain to the Carolinas.
It knocked out power to thousands as it barreled up the coast, causing flood and tornado watches from the mid-Atlantic states to New England.
In Raleigh, four women had to be rescued from a flooded out van that got stuck in high waters.
Because of all this rain and runoff, Anne Arundel County is warning everyone not to swim this weekend. Bacteria levels may be very high.
