First Preseason Ravens Game Reignites Purple Fever
BALTIMORE (WJZ)—The return of purple fever. The Ravens play Thursday night in Atlanta. And the players and the fans are ready.
Gigi Barnett shows us how the fans are getting ready.
With the first-preseason game of the year Thursday night, it's time to gear up.
Poor Boys sports shop in Abingdon may be the headquarters to buy all things Raven.
"The most important part for a pregnant woman: the Ball So Hard University onesie," said Michelle Freeman.
Thursday is Freeman's due date. Instead of giving birth, she's shopping and planning to root hard for the Ravens.
"We will be cheering tonight because we want him to come out tonight. We're done being pregnant," Freeman said.
Poor Boys owner Michael Tyson wants a win. They bring in more customers.
"We hope to have a great season. I think the Ravens are going to be . . . I will say 11-5," Tyson said.
Now everyone has a reason to watch.
"I want to see what some of the young bloods can do. I want to see these new draft guys," one Ravens fan said.
Another fans said she's excited about "seeing Ray Rice back in action again."
"I'm looking to see our offensive line, to see if we're strong enough to protect Flacco," said another fan.
Another place that's fired up: Mother's Grill in Federal Hill.
Workers stocked the fridge Thursday. There's 25 percent more of everything. No chance of running out.
"Business will be good. Ravens season is great for us, so we're happy it's back," said Dave Rather, Mother's Grill co-owner.
The Ravens will hold a public practice in Annapolis on Sunday, and they play a home preseason game against Detroit a week from Friday.
