Fire Hoax Delays Some Flights At BWI
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A false fire alarm at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport resulted in the shutdown the baggage area for Southwest Airlines and the delay of some flights.
The Baltimore Sun reports the false alarm happened Sunday morning. Authorities determined there was no fire on the conveyor belt system that transports baggage.
A spokeswoman for Southwest, Katie McDonald, says flights were held in order to ensure travelers and baggage got on the same plane.
