Fire Destroys Bait And Tackle Shop In Md.
HANCOCK, Md. (AP) -- Officials say a two-alarm fire has destroyed a bait and tackle shop in Hancock.
The fire was reported about 3 a.m. Monday by a neighbor of the Reel Deal Bait & Tackle shop on Canal Street. Officials say flames were shooting through the roof when firefighters arrived.
It took nearly 50 firefighters about 45 minutes to get the blaze under control. Two adjacent structures sustained exterior heat damage.
Authorities tell The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown that the bait and tackle shop had no sprinklers or smoke detectors.
Damage was estimated at $300,000. There were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
