Fire Department: 1 Dead After Brooklyn Park House Fire
BROOKLYN PARK, Md. (AP) -- Authorities in Anne Arundel County say one person is dead after a fire at a Brooklyn Park home.
Firefighters responded to a report of flames coming from the window of a home in the 5200 block of Disney Avenue on Wednesday night. They were able to extinguish the fire in 15 minutes, but officials say firefighters found a woman inside and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are still working to determine how the fire started, but officials say it appears to have been an accident related to smoking products and the use of home oxygen.
The woman who died was the only person home at the time of the fire.
Damage is estimated at $50,000.
