Fire Breaks Out Inside Home Depot Store In Md.
CAPITAL HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) -- Firefighters have extinguished a fire that broke out inside a Home Depot store in Capital Heights.
Prince George's County fire department spokesman Mark Brady says firefighters were called to the store about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. He says smoke was seen coming from the building.
Firefighters found a fire involving patio furniture and other outdoor products on shelves just inside the store. The building's sprinkler system had activated, helping to keep the fire from spreading. Brady says firefighters had the blaze extinguished in about 10 minutes.
The store was evacuated, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Damage is estimated at $500,000. Due to the damage and utilities being shut off, Brady says the store will not reopen for an extended period of time.
