Fire Breaks Out At Fort Detrick Army Lab Under Construction
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Fort Detrick officials say two construction workers were injured when a fire broke out at an Army lab under construction.
The two-alarm blaze broke out Wednesday afternoon at the fire at the new U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases.
Garrison spokeswoman Lanessa Hill says the fire was quickly contained. She says the two construction workers were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital with smoke inhalation and injuries after they were treated at the scene.
The extent of the damage to the lab was not yet known. Hill says the Army and the State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the blaze.
