Festival Of Trees Kicks Off At Timonium Fairgrounds
BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- It's a celebration of the holiday spirit this weekend at the annual Kennedy Krieger Festival of Trees.
Rochelle Ritchie shows us how the event is bringing people together.
It's a three-day event full of charity and cheer, and it gets bigger every year.
It's one of the biggest holiday treats all year that brings the Christmas spirit to life--the Kennedy Krieger Festival of Trees.
"It's awesome, I love it," said Sarah Gray.
Hundreds are passing down the aisles--getting ideas they can use at home.
"There's always something new here and interesting," said one visitor.
Like a zombie-inspired Christmas tree, catching lots of attention.
"With all the hubbub about zombies right now on TV and in the movies it's a cute tree," said Dave Pawloski
And the holiday spirit wouldn't be complete without a village gingerbread houses, like those from the WJZ news team.
"I like the one Kai Jackson did, but they're all great," said Phillip Culotta.
And the Festival of Trees is about more than just bright lights and delicious treats--it's all for a good cause.
"I have a special needs sister-in-law and it's very important for us to give back," said Cathy Duvel.
Giving back comes natural to many who visit the Festival of Trees, knowing the dollars they spend help those who need it most.
"This is for Kennedy Krieger Institute and people know that and they want to come out. And besides being for Kennedy Krieger Institute, where they know that's where the money goes, it's a blast," said Laney Lebow-Sachs, V.P. Kennedy Krieger.
Some of the Christmas trees sold for as much as $175 to $500.
From the hourly entertainment to the 120 boutiques, many say it's a good reminder of how to spread holiday cheer and have a good time.
The event lasts until Sunday, November 25th.
Proceeds from the festival benefit patient care, research and education at Kennedy Krieger Institute.
