Fence Under Construction At Baltimore's War Memorial Building
BALTIMORE (AP) -- In response to vagrancy issues at the War Memorial Building in downtown Baltimore, the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs is putting a fence up around the building.
Construction began Monday and the black iron fence is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
The fence will be locked during non-business hours.
The building was built in 1924 to honor World War I veterans, but it now honors all Maryland veterans.
The building on the Historical Registry List houses military related historical documents and inscriptions of all Maryland veterans who died in World War I.
Veteran service organizations keep administrative offices at the building and a 1,000 seat auditorium and assembly room are available for civic and veteran groups.
