FEMA To Survey Damage Caused By Hurricane Irene
WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) -- Carroll County emergency management officials say federal officials have visited the country to assess damage done by Hurricane Irene.
Personnel from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and state agencies will review damage done to roads. For the U.S. to fund 75 percent of road repairs, local officials say the damage must be a minimum of $486,000.
County emergency management coordinator Jim Weed tells The Carroll County Times that more than 80 roads were closed during the storm, but only four sustained significant damage. He hopes the estimated $70,000 in county costs associated with the hurricane will be factored into the total amount to be reimbursed.
