Feds Award $192M Contract For Md. SSA Building
URBANA, Md. (AP) -- The federal government says it's awarding a $191.6 million contract for design and construction of a new Social Security Administration data center in Urbana.
The General Services Administration said Friday it has awarded the contract to Hensel Phelps Construction Co., of Chantilly, Va.
The agency says it expects completion of the 300,000-square-foot building in 2015. The site is south of Frederick along Interstate 270.
U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski said in 2010 that about 250 people will work at the center.
