Federal Workers Can Telework To Avoid Icy Commute
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Instead of slipping and sliding their way into work in an ice storm, federal workers will be allowed to telework or take unscheduled leave.
The Office of Personnel Management announced Tuesday that federal agencies in the Washington region will be open on Wednesday, but non-emergency employees would be able to telework or take unscheduled leave for a second day.
The morning commute on Tuesday was plagued by a coating of ice on roads and sidewalks and forecasters expect more icy weather overnight. The National Weather Service has issued freezing rain advisory from 9 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday for the region.
