Fatal Kent Island House Fire Under Investigation
STEVENSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police and state fire officials are investigating the death of a person whose body was found in a burning house on Kent Island.
Officials say three firefighters needed medical attention after battling the two-alarm blaze on Queen Anne Club Drive in Stevensville on Friday afternoon.
One person was found on the floor of the master bedroom and pronounced dead on the scene. The body was sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification and autopsy.
It took 75 firefighters about an hour to get the fire under control. Damage was estimated at $550,000.
State police and the Office of the State Fire Marshal are investigating the fire and death.
