Fatal Hit-And-Run Victim's Family Asks For Help Catching Driver
BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- A deadly hit-and-run leads to a passionate plea from the victim's family. Almost one year after the accident, police are still searching for the driver.
Gigi Barnett has more.
For nearly a year, Robert Ross, 60, lived in a Baltimore County nursing home. His severe head injuries were caused by a hit-and-run back in August. Last Sunday Ross died and police never caught the driver.
"It would be one thing if he hit him and called 911 and tried to do something, but he ran and that's horrible," said the victim's brother, Paul Ross. "They ought to turn themselves in."
According to police reports, the accident happened at the intersection of Guilford Avenue and Center Street when a driver trying to beat the light sped up, struck Ross and left him for dead.
"He was a good guy and he deserved better," said Ross' brother-in-law, Dan Fields.
Now the family is preparing for Ross' memorial service Sunday evening. They have a warning for the person behind the wheel that day.
"It's been a year and no one has done anything about it and whoever did it, they're going to be caught. We're going to find you," said Ross' son, Robert Ross.
In addition to its plea for the driver to come forward, the family is also offering a $2,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in this case.
According to police reports, investigators are searching for a black Honda Accord. If you have any information, call city police.
