Fatal Hit-And-Run Causes Traffic Delays
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A hit-and-run fatality closed lanes and caused traffic delays on the Washington beltway.
Police say the pedestrian was struck shortly after 3 a.m. on northbound I-495 after Landover Road in Prince George's County. Police say the vehicle that struck the man did not remain at the scene. The man's identity was not immediately released pending notification of family members. A Prince George's County police officer discovered the man's body about 3:20 a.m.
The two-right lanes of the outer loop were blocked for about three hours while the death was investigated. Maryland State Police are investigating.
