Family Raises Reward Money, Pleads For Information In Fatal Hit-And-Run
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- The reward keeps growing in an Anne Arundel County hit-and-run case. A 15-year-old boy died in the accident three months ago.
Gigi Barnett explains his family is pleading for clues and raising money for the reward.
Host a spaghetti dinner at the Annapolis Moose Lodge, include a sports memorabilia auction and a raffle to give away other prizes.
That's how Mike Marion and his friends and family have upped the reward money in the hit-and-run accident that killed his 15-year-old son, Skylar.
"This money that we're raising, it's for Skylar so he can rest," Mike Marion said.
Marion says his family has been flooding with community support after his son's death.
Back in April, Skylar was walking along Mountain Road headed to a convenience store. Detectives say the driver of a black SUV never stopped.
Marion says his quest to find the driver won't, either.
"The person who did this, you got to look at that. Fifteen-year-old child. He took his life and you're out there running around, just living it up," he said.
But Skylar's death saved three other lives through organ donation. Kyle Wilkerson received Skylar's heart. Some of the money from this weekend's fundraiser will cover his medical bills.
Wilkerson's family says it's time to find the driver.
"They deserve closure. They deserve to be able to end their search," said Kyle's mother, Denise Wilkerson.
The reward money to find the hit-and-run driver is up to $11,000.
Skylar's family and friends have set up a memorial fund in the teen's name and will continue hosting fundraisers to add to it.
