Family Of Elderly Woman Stabbed In Northeast Baltimore Seeks Justice
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- A 91-year-old woman is stabbed to death inside her Northeast Baltimore home. The family of Irene Logan is trying to cope with their loss.
But as Monique Griego reports, they're having a hard time understanding why someone would do this.
Ninety-one-year-old Irene Logan, or "Grannie," is described as being a happy, kind-hearted woman. No one ever imagined her life would end so tragically.
"There's just evil out here, and someone evil come in," said Irene Ushry, Logan's daughter.
Yesterday, Ushry found the 91-year-old face down in a pool of blood inside their home in the 4700 block of Moravia. Police later told Irene Ushry that her mother had been stabbed to death.
"It's just tragic that something like this would happen to her, to my mom," said Frank Ushry, Logan's son-in-law. "And I'm going to miss her."
But who came into this home and why is still a mystery. Detectives combed the house for evidence, but leads are slim.
Ushry says someone ransacked her bedroom and took a few peices of costume jewelry.
"That's hard to believe that somebody would do something like that, take somebody's life for something so small," Irene Ushry said.
As family members helped each other try and cope with what happened, police hit the neighborhood.
Police canvassed the neighborhood Thursday with fliers. With so many unanswered questions, family members are hoping someone will come forward with information.
"We'd just like to find them and get some kind of justice from them," Irene Ushry said.
Irene Ushry says closure will only come when "Grannie's" killers are caught.
"We just going to trust in God that he will take us through this, then bring us out," Irene Ushry said.
Police told WJZ they've interviewed family members and neighbors, but so far, none of the information given has been able to point them to a possible suspect.
