Family Hopes For Leads In Murder Cold Case
HARFORD COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- A three-year-old Harford County homicide is still unsolved. On the victim's birthday, the family renews its plea for witnesses to come forward.
Gigi Barnett has more.
A small family gathering would have been a birthday celebration for Tariq Alston. At 22, he was gunned down at a private party in Harford County three years ago. Without any witnesses, Alston's case reamins unsolved.
"It's not a cold case to me," said Daphne Alston, Tariq's mother.
Robert and Daphne Alston are Tariq's parents. They've pleaded for witnesses to come forward since the night of their son's murder.
"I live with this every day," she said.
The Harford County Sheriff's Office is still passing out reward flyers in Alston's murder. In July 2008, he attended a party at the Joppa Magnolia Fire Hall on Mountain Road. That's where someone shot him in the head; he died minutes later at the hospital.
"He was killed gangsta style," she said.
Detectives say much of the evidence in Alston's case is circumstantial. There is a $1,000 reward for information in Alston's case that leads to an arrest.
