"A well-rounded individual is someone who excels in school, but also someone who is able to convey what they have learned in the classroom to the real world. I try to explain to folks who are interested in a career in financial services, or starting the next chapter of their life post-college, that you have to go out and experience life. Things like work experience and volunteering distinguish someone as a well-rounded individual, a leader and someone who is willing to go above and beyond."
In your opinion, what types of experiences, whether educational or professional, enhance this definition (of a well-rounded individual)?
"One area that enhances an individual's ability to be well-rounded is their experience and education in foreign language and culture. Today, we live and operate in a global economy and areas like China, for example, are having a greater impact on our day-to-day affairs. Taking steps now to further the understanding of global business, foreign relations and language will not only make someone a more well-rounded individual, but also more successful in their career."
