Executive Editor Of Golf World Magazine Ron Sirak Discusses The PGA Championship
Ron Sirak, the executive editor of Golf World Magazine, joined the Norris and Davis Show on Baltimore's 105-7 THE FAN Monday morning to discuss Jason Dufner winning the PGA Championship. Sirak tells that Dufner is generally good at masking his emotions, joking that Dufner "lives life on a seven second delay." Sirak thinks that he has more of an "everyman" attitude, which would explain why some fans like him as they do. However, Sirak mentions that Dufner is not going to be the person to interact with his fans.
Transitioning to his performance on the course, Sirak brings up that he shot under par in the last round of the tournament. Dufner was in a similar situation a few years ago, finding himself a couple strokes ahead with four holes to go, then blowing the lead and losing in a playoff.
When asked about other golfers in the tournament, such as Tiger Woods finishing 40th, Sirak brings up the statistic that Woods has the vast majority of his wins are on a select few courses. Phil Mickelson finished third to last in the tournament, which could be attributed to his 20 years in the PGA. Sirak believes that Mickelson might have had a hangover from winning the Open Championship.
When asked about the PGA Championship golf course, Sirak describes it as a very good, but incredibly challenging course, citing the last two holes as a great finishing pair.
