Ex-United Way Worker Sentenced For Theft
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A federal judge has sentenced a former employee of United Way of Central Maryland to nearly four years in prison in a plot to steal more than $375,000 in donations.
Forty-eight-year-old Dorothy Shields Talbot of Baltimore was also ordered at sentencing Friday to pay restitution.
According to a plea agreement, Talbot was supposed to close a checking account for employee activities. She instead deposited donor checks into that account instead of into a corporate account.
Talbot admitted that from December of 2004 through December 2010 she withdrew money from the checking account and used it for herself and luxury items for her family.
