Ex-Soccer Coach Sentenced For Child Sex Abuse

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- A former soccer coach at a private school in Landover has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for sexually abusing a girl on the soccer team.

Carles Vasser, 35, of Seat Pleasant had been convicted last month on five counts of child sexual abuse. He was sentenced Friday.

Prosecutor say Vasser was coach of the girls' soccer team at Riverdale Baptist School. Officials say from October 2008 through July 2009, Vasser had sexual contact with the victim, who was 15 when the abuse started.
